And so it begins…

On this past Thursday, I stopped at my school to pick up my work computer and materials to begin content training for the upcoming school year.  Beginning this coming Tuesday we will begin our training via Zoom. As my school district continues to discuss whether or not to reopen and if we have to reopen, what the logistics of that will look like, I plan to take this school year one day at a time.  This has been a very stressful time for all education personnel. Many don’t know if they will even be employed at the end of all this decision making. Others who will remain employed may be moved to different, unfamiliar position

s. I did my best all summer to enjoy each and every day.  I knew the closer we got to our start date the more information would be flowing.  I also knew that the information would change each and every day.  I didn’t want to be overwhelemd and constantly running ‘what if’ questions through my mind.  I made a conscience decision to steer clear of all social media posts and conversations about whether or not to return to classrooms, if our school district was doing the right thing and if the CDC Guidelines would work.

Even as I sit here writing today, I can understand everyone’s concerns.  I have no opinion about what needs to be done or whether or not parents need to keep their children home.  What I do know is that I have to make the best decision for me and my family as others must do the same.  No matter what my school district decides, what my coworkers decide, what parents decide, I will respect those decisions because just like me, everyone has to do what they think is best.

I refuse to get caught up.  When my friends/coworkers call to discuss all that is happening and the lack of communication from our district, I listen.  I share their concerns and encourage them to make the decision that is best for them.  This is going to be a very trying time for all involved.  I wish everyone the best and pray that we will show each other the love and respect each of us deserve.

Back to setting my alarm…:)
