Being a mom has not always been roses and sunshine. However, being a mom totally brings me joy. Over the years I have enjoyed watching my children grow into young adults and create lives of their own. My husband and I do not get to see our children as often as we like now but when we do...pure joy!

I had the amazing opportunity to have my grandchildren for the Christmas Holidays. Two boys now ages two and six, are the light of my life. We spent the holidays visiting family, finding large Christmas trees all over the county and playing outside. The weather was perfect for this time of the year.
When our oldest son arrived on a Sunday evening to pick up the boys and stay a couple of days, I was overjoyed! Not only did I have my grandchildren but I also had my baby back home with me. Even if only for a few days.
I had to return to work on Monday but just knowing they'd be there when I got back home made for a very exciting day. At work, a coworker asked if my son had arrived and I told her that he had. She asked if we were planning to do anything while he was here. I told her I had planned to take them to SeaWorld on Tuesday. To that she asked if I'd rather go to Disney instead!
My coworker gifted us with tickets to Magic Kingdom that she was not able to use. My credit card points got us a great hotel near the park and our journey to the happiest place on Earth began. I hadn't planned to take a whole day off from work but sometimes the best decisions in life are simply made and not pondered over, stressed over or worth getting frustrated over. Spending the day at Magic Kingdom with my boys was probably one of the best decisions I've ever made.
Not only did the boys enjoy it but so did I. I hadn't been to a Disney park since my own son was a young boy. Walking through the park brought back some sweet memories of being there long ago with my family. Despite the crowd, it was a very relaxing day. I was so grateful that my son and grandson were able to ride many rides. Watching the two of them have this time together filled my heart.

I was reminded, on this day, about what truly matters in this life and that's family. Work is something we have to do. Having a nice car and a home are great. Even having a little nest egg is probably a must. At the end of the day, before we close our eyes for the night, we have to ask ourselves, "did we live today or did the day pass us by?"
My hope for all of us is that we live each and every as if it is our last, enjoy family and friends, and don't sweat the small stuff.
Happy New Year!
