Getting Back to Me

It has never bothered me much to travel by myself, go to the movies by myself or to even eat at a restaurant by myself. So many of my friends have said to me, "I don't know how you do that. I could never vacation by myself and I especially couldn't sit in a restaurant and eat by myself." I just laugh and think of how much fun they are missing out on.

As a matter of fact, at this very moment, I am sitting on a beach in Cedar Key, Florida writing this post. I drove here on yesterday, by myself, to spend the weekend. Today I had lunch in a restaurant, by myself and thought nothing of it.
I love being outside in nature. I love exploring small towns and cities. My favorite are the ones near a beach. I live in Florida so I am surrounded by them. A short two or three hour drive and I am walking around some quaint town, meeting new people and eating good food. For me, this is the best way to spend my time and relax.

This time away was much needed. School has been very hectic. This time of the year is always stressful because it's when students begin state standardized testing and the stakes are high this year being that we have been teaching/learning during a pandemic. Our school district seems to be in a terrible financial free fall, there is talk of position cuts and school closings. So to say that teachers are on edge, anxious and stressed is an understatement.
Stepping away from issues and challenges you are facing is a great way to get clarity. It is important that we take time for ourselves to relax and let our minds escape the everyday. Taking care of ourselves must be a priority and not an option. We all need it. So, take care of you and don't feel guilty for doing it.
Life is short. Do you, Boo!
