My Prayer

If I have learned nothing else, I have learned that there really is power in prayer! One thing I truly enjoy about my life in Christ is praying for and over my family and friends. Often when I am not sure what to pray, I pray scriptures from the book of Psalm. However, my go to scripture is often Ephesians 1: 17 - 19. It is so beautiful and it reads:

I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit[f] of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength.

It's a beautiful scripture, right? This scripture is in a letter written by the Apostle Paul to the people in the church in Ephesus. Here, Paul wanted to encourage the believers in Ephesus and wanted them to think of themselves in a whole new way. To think of themselves as people in Christ. Not only do I believe in this scripture for my family and friends, I want them to believe it about themselves.

For me, praying scriptures helps me to say what I want/need to say when I can't find the right words. This particular scripture has carried me through many challenging times and many wonderful moments. So many nights I have walked this house praying this scripture over my husband, children and grandchildren. What can I say, this scripture simply brings me pure joy.

My hope is always to be an open vessel as well as a flowing stream. I want to be open to receiving God's love and direction so that I can be a true loving, caring and compassionate human being. I encourage you to find a scripture that has a deep meaning for you. Try praying that scripture regularly. Give back to God, in prayer, what he has given you in his word.
