When I think about the Spring of 2020, I remember that life for everyone changed in almost an instant. A virus was spreading across our country and many people were getting sick and dying. Businesses closed. Schools closed. Families stayed inside. It was something I never thought I'd see in my lifetime. All anyone wanted to do was to stay safe.

Just as my school district began Spring Break, we received an email stating that we would not be returning to the school building. We would be switching to remote learning. Talk about a challenge. Spring of 2020 was tough as was the rest of the year. When the Fall came so did the question as to whether or not teachers and students would be returning to the building. I was faced with the decision to continue working remotely or returning to school. After much prayer and discussion with my husband, I decided to return to school.

It was scary and I was nervous. Keeping our hands washed and high touch surface areas cleaned became my top priority. Getting my students on board wasn't difficult. They understood the seriousness of what we were faced with and had no trouble following new cleaning procedures. We were doing good. As more information about the virus came to light and vaccines became available, the world slowly began to open.

As Spring 2021 began to approach, missing his momma something terrible, my son made the decision to bring his family for a visit. Still heavy with concern for everyone's safety, my son and I focused on following the CDC Guidelines for their visit. We wore masks, spent much of our visit soaking in the Spring air on the patio and out in the yard.

My son has blessed my life with two grandsons ages twenty-two months and five years. I could not have had less rest over the week. Each day was a new adventure. We ran, we played, we explored and we ate more food than the law should allow. It has been a while since I'd had so much fun and it was so needed.

Thankfully and by the grace of God, we all remained safe and healthy. We were able to enjoy spending some much need time together. The country is still in the throws of a pandemic and many families are struggling financially, emotionally, mentally and socially. Let us all remember to be kind. If there was a time on earth that we should show love and kindness to our neighbor, this is it.

May God continue to bless you and yours.
