Whew! I was about done with all things education by the time the last day of school rolled around. Oh, talk about a stressful year. Most days I could not tell whether I was coming or going yet, I made it through! My body needed rest. My mind needed rest. I made the decision, with Love, to not work this summer. If I was going to make it back into the classroom in the Fall, I needed time away to just chill.

By early June we had four kiddos in the house. We had our god-children who are nine and four. We had our grandchildren who are six and three. A complete full house but equally as fun. Hanging out with the kids is just what I needed. Going to the park, to museums, playing in the backyard, seeing them smile made me smile and it all filled my heart. Taking my mind off of everything that had me stressed for ten and a half months was awesome!

I had breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner with family and friends! We celebrated birthdays, anniversaries, went to theme parks, beaches and took day trips to small, out of the way towns. I spent a lot of time reading on my back porch late into the night. My son came for a visit. Love and I organized the garage. I spent a weekend at the Kennedy Space center. Bella grew up pretty fast! Needless to say, I enjoyed every second of my summer.

As my summer vacation winds down, I made a list of all the fun times I enjoyed and even printed some pictures of special moment to take back to my classroom with me. I plan to post these pictures around my room so that I am always reminded of the fun and happy times I got to share with family and friends. I want those times to be what I rely on most this year when the going gets tough.

Against everything I believe in, I began preparing for my return to the classroom around the middle of July. My hope is to avoid starting my year in a full run and simply easing into along with my students. I am changing schools this year as well so this will be somewhat of a fresh start. I will be working again with friends and people I have grown to love over my seventeen years as an educator. For the first time in a long time I am actually looking forward to returning!

Here's to a stress-free ten months...
