Faith ~ belief and trust in and loyalty to God; firm belief in something for which there is no proof; complete trust

It can be so frustrating when things don’t go according to plan or when you see someone not giving nearly as much as you are getting all the benefits.  Faith tells us to just believe.  Faith tells us to be confident in our attitude and trust in God.  No matter what, have faith.

For me, I’m thinking, how is faith possible when you feel everything around you seems to be crashing down, when all hope is lost and there seems to be no end in sight to the darkness that seems to have engulfed you?  I read the bible regularly.  I pray often.  I try to find the silver lining but if I’m being real, there are days when I feel like I am sinking and nothing I try seems to be working.  Sometimes I just have to ask, “God, where are you?”

Two things I have learned over time that helps me when I am going down a rabbit hole of anger, frustration or sadness:

  1. I have a right to my feelings but I can’t stay there

  2. My faith is grown through hearing, reading and seeing.  Hearing God’s word, reading God’s word and seeing all that He’s already done.

We all face struggles and disappointments.  The key is to find positive things that impact your thinking and your mood, and do those things so that you do not stay in that place of negativity.

I’ve always wanted to be one of those people who just knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that no matter what was happening in the present moment, they simply had faith that it would all work out.  I’d listen to all of these great speakers and ask, “why can’t I have faith like that?”

What I have come to know over the years, when I really listen, many of these women share similar stories of abuse, trauma, battles with depression and anxiety, loneliness, abandonment, being looked over for promotions, being poor, being single mothers, being homeless and the list goes on.  I’ve learned that they didn’t always have this deep divine spirituality of faith.  They had doubts.  They had questions.  They struggled to believe.  The most important thing I learned from hearing their stories is that even when everything looked bleak, they were determined not to give up.  The more they saw God move in their lives, the more their faith strengthened.

I believe it is Les Brown who says, you gotta be hungry.  You have to know what you want and be hungry for it.  You have to let that hunger drive you toward the things you want in life.  If more faith is what you want, push toward it everyday.  Imagine if you had the audacity to believe bigger for yourself, to have faith in the unseen and just know everything will all work out.  What would you have to lose?

Believe in yourself and never, ever give up…:)
